What is the culture in Australia?
Vietnamese culture and Australian culture is different in so many ways. Don’t be afraid to ask someone when you need an explanation. People are always friendly and willing to help you understand more about Australian culture and customs. Here are some helpful tips about the Australian culture.

  • Being an “Egalitarian” country, Australians are informal and therefore status is not always clearly distinguished. Everyone should be treated equally and given equal respect.
  • Time is money. Australians are very punctual and seldom arrive late for an appointment.
  • Smoking is not allowed in public places such as airports, department cms/stores, restaurants, bars, and public transport.
  • Women have equal rights and opportunities. Women are regarded as equal to men in work and living society.
  • Give people a ‘Fair go’. An Aussie term for giving everyone a fair chance; an equal opportunity regardless of their age, sex, religion or race. It is illegal to be driscriminative.
